Favignana
The butterfly of the Mediterranean
Favignana is the largest island of the Egadi archipelago.
Its shape, seen from above, is reminiscent of a butterfly lying on an infinite blue expanse.
Famous for the breathtaking colors of its crystal clear waters, it offers landscapes that are impossible to forget.
The village
The beating heart of the island. Here you will find the greatest variety of services, bars with delicious breakfasts to start the day with the right energy, restaurants for all palates and faithful to tradition, to involve your taste buds in the journey.
There is no shortage of boat tours with fishermen, who with their skill will make you discover all the hidden and less touristy corners, enjoy freshly caught fish on board and fantastic aperitifs at sunset.
For the more active it is possible to take advantage of scuba diving, sports by the sea, horseback riding, excursions to the tuff quarries and the wonderful underground gardens.
The advice -> Early in the morning go to the port: here you will find very fresh fish, many proposals to spend the day in the best possible way, and by observing the flags, you will be able to decide on the basis of the winds which are the best places to go.
The sunsets
Favignana offers breathtaking sunsets that you cannot miss during your visit.
The whole area of the back of the island allows you to witness the disappearance of the sun directly in the water, with breathtaking skies and Marettimo in the background. Here you will find some kiosks to enjoy an excellent aperitif in front of this immense show.
Even from the castle of Santa Caterina (the highest point of the island) you can enjoy a crazy view: going up in the late afternoon to enjoy the sunset from this perspective and then descending in the dark with the lights is a must have.
The advice -> The back island is the wildest part of Favignana and also the most distant from the town. If you plan to see the sunset there, it is convenient to travel with a motorized vehicle or, in any case, to have bicycle bulbs and reflectors with you.
Tourism for all tastes
Favignana is able to satisfy every desire of a tourist.
For those who want a relaxing and slow-living holiday, it is advisable to visit the island in less touristy periods, for example April, May, late September, October. In fact, temperatures often allow you to enjoy the sea anyway, but breathing an air of authentic island life.
Conversely, in high season you can take advantage of the many proposals, aperitifs of all kinds in incredibles locations and have fun until dawn choosing from the many beach parties.
The advice -> In the evening in the village ask for information on night offers: many events are not advertised but can only be discovered with word of mouth!
The coves
The strong point of Favignana is, of course, the sea!
Everyone has, at least once, heard of and seen photos of the famous Cala Rossa and Cala Azzurra. A visit is a must, but don't limit yourself to this: there are many lesser known places and no less worthy of attention. Wander the island as if it were an adventure, in search of the hidden corner that will steal your heart!
The advice -> The bicycle is certainly the most suitable way to reach various places, otherwise inaccessible, in total freedom. The effort of the pedaling will be amply rewarded!
